Seedling

The sealing wax palm comes from Malaysia, New Guinea, and Sumatra. This palm will only grow outside in the tropics. It has a beautiful red crownshaft and will reach a height of about 16 feet. The fruit are small, black, and oblong and the seeds usually germinate in two months (fresh seeds are a must).  Top Photo courtesy and copyright © 1998, Geoff Stein; taken at Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens, Thailand.
