Macaw palms in the distance--in habitat in Belo Horizonte, Brazil
Spiny and handsome palm from South America which produces seeds as hard as stones which are not at all easy to germinate. Once sprouted though, growth is fast and satisfying, and the resulting palm makes an excellent conservatory specimen or house plant. Not often seen for sale.
