Zamia amplifolia
| Synonymy: None | Distribution: Endemic to the Choco region of Colombia |
| Common name: Unknown | Conservation status: Rare, perhaps endangered? |
Leaf of mature adult
Female cone
Zamia amplifolia has been collected only four times in the past 120 years and then only as vegetative material. This species is very similar in leaf morphology to Z. dressleri from central Panama, except that some collections show that Z. amplifolia has trunks up to 2.5 meters tall, while Z. dressleri always has a subterranean stem. Zamia amplifolia is the only Zamia with prominently grooved leaflets that also bear entire (unserrated) margins.
