|
Conservation of the CycadsToday, the cycads are threatened by extinction, and international conventions are ordering to protect the cycads, and forbid transporting them across the border. CITES (the Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna) is one such convention, having guidelines and controls for handling plants (and animals) growing in their native habitats and threatened with commercial exploitation. CITES is listing such species, including the cycads.
