As a fish biologist turned lawyer turned palm fanatic, your site and VPE are phenomenal--especially considering how new the site is. Keep up the wonderful work.

Thanks for providing such a great site. What a service! I was able to find pictures of the miniature date palm, Phoenix roebelenii, in about five minutes. Sure did beat going to the local library in terms of convenience. I am now able to SEE what my landscaper is proposing. Thanks again.

What a cool web site! I live in Santa Maria, Calif. which is a zone 15 in the Western Garden book. with the exception of the 19 degree mark we hit one morning just before Christmas, we have only a few nights that hit the freezing mark each year. That 19 degree was the coldest since 1990. I have 29 varieties of palms in my yard, only a few are the dirty dozen variety. I have 50 palm in total with my newest being a Laccospadix australasica and a Wodyetia Bifurcata. I see alot of palms in your dictionary and just wonder what the minimum temperatures would be for some of them. If you ever get some time and want to post the minimum temperatures. I won't hold you back!

Again..Great web site!

Hello,
First of all, your encyclopeida is pretty remarkable. I have been living in Israel for three and a half years now, and have always enjoyed the beauty of trees - especially palms. It was only recently - having joined the Army and beeng stationed in the Negev desert in the south of the country, that I had the opportunity and the desire to look more closely at these spectacular beings. I realize now that seeing a palm from a distance is to miss most of its true beauty. Once I took this closer look, I couldn`t wait to get home and surf the net to find out how the trees functioned. So your encyclopeida is just what I needed.

I get the feeling that it won`t be long before I too become a palm freak. But I see nothing bad about that. Anyway, you can be credited with making a considerable contribution to this path I`m on.

Sincerely,
Amir (19), ISRAEL

You have created no less than a masterpiece at plantapalm.com! I simply cannot tear myself away from the virtual encyclopedia, and I plan to spend time thoroughly exploring every nook and crook of the various chapters.........but I could not let another minute go by without thanking you for all you have done for all of us palm nuts.

A very big thank you for this great website, it is going to help all of us like nothing else!
